Mark Williams, Pastor

Surrendering to the call of ministry as a teenager, Pastor Mark Williams has been pastoring in the local church for more than three decades. He graduated from New Orleans Theological Seminary with an emphasis on preaching and Biblical interpretation. An avid musician and song writer, Pastor Mark plays many instruments and uses his giftings to strengthen the local church. Hailing from the deep south, he loves college football, brisket barbecue, and flannel shirts. Matthew Hura, Family Ministries Coordinator

A lifelong York County native, Pastor Matthew Hura has been ministering to students and kids from the age of 17. When he is not at church, Matt enjoys playing drums, golfing, bowling, and snowboarding. Matt has been to Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Kenya for short term mission trips and lived in Spain for half a year as a missionary where he became fluent in Spanish. Matt has taught Spanish in 3 different schools in York and taught English to English Language Learners in Harrisburg. Matt and his wife Alissa have been married since January 2024 and have two cats Gumball and Marble.

Sheri Wolf, Administrative Assistant

Sheri, a Pennsylvania native with a Master’s in Social Work from Widener University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Towson University, has dedicated her career to teaching and counseling. With experience in hospice, school, church, and home care settings; Sheri has also worked with children and young adults with autism.

Married for over 25 years to Eric, she has devoted a portion of her life to raising their two daughters. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, puzzles, gardening, reading, and hiking with her family.

Renee Montag, Assistant Treasurer

Born the youngest of nine children, Renee grew up in rural York County near Seven Valleys. She attended and graduated from Spring Grove Schools and pursued some college courses in business. Always interested in civics and social studies, she first worked in state and county government. In September 1982, Renee truly married her best friend, Barry. About that same time, she became the high school principal’s secretary for 17 years at West York. Her final employment was as secretary-treasurer for the Borough of Windsor for 11 years, where she enjoyed keeping the accounts for the Borough and the Borough Authority.

Now retired, Renee is an avid reader. She and Barry love to travel and spend time at our home. God has bestowed so many wonderful blessings on them and one they cherish dearly is being Godparents to their triplet great nephews and niece. They have treasured interacting with them and watching them grow into the young adults they are now. They are pleased to be a part of the Messiah Church family and Renee looks forward to working with each of you in this position and in the many ways we all serve our Lord Jesus and each other.

Jan Frey, Organist & Music Ministry

Jan is a retired public school teacher, an avid gardener, and a kayaker.  She loves making music and spending time with her family and friends.  She is a brain injury rehabilitant who, in recovery, became a resource line representative for the Brian Injury Assoc. of Pa and gladly helps others who want support for neurological challenges and issues. 

Alex Gonzalez, Custodian

Alex is a York County native who attended Eastern High School and Thaddeus Stevens University. He enjoys the outdoors, woodworking, painting, and fixing things. In his spare time (actually his main job), he does home rehabilitation work as a contractor. Alex has a love for Jesus and one expression of this is shown in the way he cares for God’s house at Messiah Church. He is very happy to be a part of the Messiah staff and is looking forward to meeting you.
