Messiah Church of York traces its roots back to the late 1800s, beginning as the York Fifth United Brethren Church. Our current facility was completed in 1959 under the UB denomination, later becoming Messiah UMC after the 1968 formation of the United Methodist Church. In 2023, we became a newly independent, non-denominational, biblically conservative, evangelical church – a people shaped by Scripture, prayer, and a passion for mission.
Our Mission
To Know Christ.
To Grow in Christ.
To Show Christ.
We believe a church is called to live out the Gospel daily — learning, serving, and loving in ways that reflect Jesus to our neighbors. God is working in powerful ways through the people of Messiah York, and we’re just getting started.
“Now all glory to God, who is able… to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” – Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Meet the Team
Pastor Mark Williams
Pastor
Surrendering to the call of ministry as a teenager, Pastor Mark has been leading churches for over three decades. A graduate of New Orleans Theological Seminary, he’s a passionate preacher, musician, and songwriter. When he’s not leading at Messiah, you’ll find him cheering on college football or basketball, making music, or spending time with his family.
For years, Messiah York has served as a community hub — partnering with local schools, organizations, and the borough itself. From our Kids Camp to Lebanon Cemetery revitalization, we believe the church should be known for its love in action.
